Where to meet at 9:50 am: Corner of Lorne St and Sahara Way. Here is the Google Maps pin:https://maps.app.goo.gl/F9BuzucDgvJmdkrcA. The closest street address is 13 Lorne St, Fawkner. The Lynch Rd site is roughly a 7-minute walk north on the Merri Creek Trail from the meeting point.
Site information: The creek flats at Lynch Rd were planted in 2018 to help restore Creekline Tussock Grasslands to the Merri Creek. The site also provides habitat for Cunningham’s Skink and the critically endangered Matted Flax-lily.
Activities: We will be hand weeding Chilean Needle-grass, Brassica and other weeds to help the native vegetation at Lynch Rd thrive. We will also collect Common Tussock-grass seed if they are ripe.
Please bring water, sunscreen and a hat. It's important that you wear suitable protective clothing: long sleeves, long pants and enclosed shoes. We also encourage you to bring insecticide and familiarise yourself with preventative measures for the Buruli Ulcer.
We will finish work around 12 midday.
MCMC will supply clean hand tools and gloves; however, you are welcome to bring your own.
Please don't attend if you are feeling unwell, or have cold or flu-like symptoms.
